Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce



Community Hosts:  The Chamber has volunteers called Community Hosts who take shifts at the Chamber office, answering phones, helping walk-ins, answering questions about Smithville and its businesses and activities, working on mailing pieces, and general office work. 


Volunteers might like these committees:

Keep Smithville Beautiful - road clean ups, beautification projects, murals.

Tourism - deliver flyers for events, plan events and other tourism activities.

Smithville Film Commission - plan Texas Photo Festival, attract film industry to town, and other various related needs

Community Relations Committee - involved the local activities, planning, etc.


Event Planning/Participation:  The Chamber needs the following volunteers throughout the year for planning (begins approx. 6 months before each event) and to work the event:

  • Thunder on the Colorado Biker Rally (mid March)
  • Jamboree (vendors downtown only - dates vary)
  • Airport Fly-In with Friends of 84R (2nd Saturday in May)
  • Casino Night (fourth Saturday in July)
  • Texas Photo Festival (second Sunday in October)
  • Festival of Lights holiday celebration (first Saturday in December)

The Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce is a (501)(c)(6) and employs 1.5 people.  The remainder of Chamber staff/activities is non-paid, volunteer work.
