Character Education

Building Good Citizens for Texas encourages the incorporation of the character traits in all activities of the school day. These concepts should be seen in every classroom, in the cafeteria, in the gym, every hallway, even in the restrooms!  We, at Volunteer Smithville, think these are wonderful traits for volunteers, no matter what the age.

Building Good Citizens for Texas targets a different character trait each month by utilizing a monthly list of positive character traits called for by House Bill 946, passed by the 77th Texas Legislature, 2001, and signed into law by Governor Rick Perry.

By reinforcing and illustrating the benefits of these traits throughout the school, students internalize the positive messages more readily and see the importance of continuing to practice these values.
