Bastrop County Mental Retardation Assoc., Inc. (BCMRA)

BCMRA is committed to providing financial assistance and social activities, and to act as advocates for individuals with mental retardation.  As advocates, we are committed to insuring that the rights of these individuals are protected and promote their involvement in the community.

Volunteers Needed: 

1. Monthly canteen dance.  To asssist with the monthly canteen dance for the mentally challenged at Smithville Recreation Center with set-up, tear down, clean up, sell tickets, provide snacks and refreshments, and obtaining door prizes.  Attendees are from Bastrop and surrounding counties attend the Friday evening dances.  Dates available from BCMRA president (contact listed below).  Ongoing activity.

2. Christmas food and gift baskets.  To solicit and collect food and gift items.  Needed before Dec. 1st of each year.  Baskets are for families, individuals and nursing home residents.  One youth collects food in October as a 4H project.  Annual activity.
